RIFLEMAN'S JOURNAL - NOVEMBER 2017
The World Sucks
Years ago I wrote:
“'Something must be done'?” Sol shook his head. “Those four words have led to the greatest atrocities in the histories of every known race, slavery and murder on industrial scales, devastation of entire continents. No such evil can ever be completely destroyed, and we've stopped wasting treasure and blood trying. It will always exist somewhere.” Gentling his tone, he reminded her, “Your would-be slavers wore the uniforms and claimed the authority of your own government, your 'protectors.'”
At this she frowned. “And your solution is to leave everyone to fend for themselves?”
“Compared to the alternative? Absolutely.”
Well... there's your problem. And I'm stuck in one of them, parking cars for minimum wage and now getting less than twenty hours a week.
"Unfortunately, evidence is the last thing our Liberal government wants to consider when it comes to firearms."
"In October 2016, students at University of California, Berkeley created a human chain in an attempt to block black students from going to class"OH. WAIT.
The kind of people who don't want you able to defend yourself....
...Really are saying these things out loud.
Sociopaths who refuse to recognize us as human beings. We're all just cardboard cutouts on the genocide-fantasy stage-plays of their minds.
In Lighter News
Hypocrisy... show-business celebrities calling for NRA members, or conservatives, or whites, to be rounded up and "face a firing squad". Now there's this show in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Gifted, in which human mutants, homo superior, are hunted by the United States government. Back in the 1980s I was a comicoholic, before Marvel went Social Justice and pooped all over their customers. The X-Men and associated titles were what drew me in - underdogs being hunted and persecuted. So now, now that the racist Marxist usurper is out and someone who doesn't hate America is in, Marvel, in comic books and on screens small and large, portrays an overreaching tyrannical government persecuting Certain Kinds of People, rounding them up and taking them away, and... it appears they really don't, won't, can't see the other end of that equation. Or it's all just part of their aforementioned genocide-fantasies - the kind of government powers they dream of exercising against anyone who disagrees with them, and they're forgetting to use their inside(-their-heads-)voices.
Not unrelated, I recently had opportunity to watch Spider-Man: Homecoming and it was packed full of Social Justice lies and bigotry, including a line near the end: "...journalists, real ones, not bloggers."
Your Ministry of Truth Moment o' the Day. The treasonous pig responsible for an Islamic terrorist entering this country blames the man trying to keep them out.
No, really, white straight males need not apply.
Then, Michael G. sends, "Vassar [College]: Free Speech is invalid. '...[N]ot about one’s individual, legal right to free speech, but is instead about the collective well-being of all members of our society.' Sounds kind of like the collective interpretation of the Second Amendment. Not exactly surprising that those who attack liberty would use similar methods to attack different freedoms."
With, "Brandeis [University] cancels play Black Lives Matter objects to. 'He said calls for Brandeis to cancel the play weren’t calls for censorship.' Is that anything like, 'This is not an assault' or 'Stop resisting!'?"
Which segues to:
Milo really is on our side and saying things we ought to. Often at the actual risk of his own life.
Important increments and precedents in Ohio.
A while back I wrote, "His left leg was replaced with what appeared to be salvaged robot components, up to and including the hip. A control-and-power box for it was worn on a belt around his waist, with a cable running up his body to a neural-induction headband." Getting there.
I also write about many different worlds orbiting different stars. They exist. Dunno if anyone's home on any of them, but the numbers are so big, somewhere there can't not be somebody we could sit down and talk with over a beer.

Timely Visual Aids.
I intend to spend tomorrow at home with a loaded rifle. ...And a fluffy kitteh in my lap, optimally.
Just yesterday I was talking about the Marvel brand and the concerted and deliberate effort to misinform everyone about everything.
Timely Visual Aid and additional data.
Not unrelated, prooooooooobably another fake hate crime.
This is what you get when the government, or the unions-as-though-there's-a-difference-anymore, run the schools. The parallel to health care should be obvious to anyone who isn't a psychotic ideologue.
Aaaaaand psychotic ideologues. And lots and lots of psychological projection.
Speaking of brainwashed children, seriously, keep your screaming snot-wiping brat quiet and on a leash.
And don't go to college either.
The kind of people who don't want you able to defend yourself....
Tell me again how restricting immigration is "racist".
Speaking of psychological projection: [whiny screech] "If everybody has guns they'll all just kill innocent bystanders"WRONG. AGAIN.
Blogbrother SMLE Fan haz kitteh pics. (See also.) Yes, his blog was down for a couple weeks, and so was my duplicate site. At the bottom you will find links to both copies of this blog. The .NAME domain is the one least likely to go down, and the one I refer people to.
Well, there's something you don't see every day.
Stuck in this horrible place with nowhere to go and no way to get there....
The next time you see someone holding a sign claiming to be a feminist for Islam....
It's not a paranoid conspiracy theory if the New York Times really is accepting full-page ads to incite riots, vandalism and sedition, paid for by a National Socialist collaborator.
Soul-Crushing Student Loan Debt....
As for that concerted and deliberate effort to misinform everyone about everything, years ago Ken Burns made an award-winning documentary about the War Between the States (aka "The Civil War") for PBS. Later he made one about the Second World War, which received criticism for being whiny and slanted. Now he's done one on Vietnam and it looks like he's openly angling for a Cronkite Award. Says one who would damn well know.
Speaking of PBS, this is why they don't like free speech anymore.
Huh. That was anticlimactic.
A while back I read Her Brother's Keeper by Mike Kupari, who also cowrote the Dead Six series with Larry Correia. I found Kupari's standalone work to be quite good and it appears there is a sequel, Sins of Her Father, for which I am first in the library hold queue. Also first for Drake's next RCN, Though Hell Should Bar the Way.

Okay, so, last month some unknown nut mowed down innocent human beings in a conservative entertainment venue,
and his house got burglarized
and a security guard went to Mexico
and a woman who survived died of... something
and a couple who survived died in a fiery car crash
and one of the venue managers died of... something
and there's all kinds of evidence missing or not adding up
and the authorities' official story keeps changing
and then it disappears from the media-enemy
AND NOW IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.
AS THOUGH CERTAIN PEOPLE WERE EXPECTING IT.
Still not a Republican NRA member with a MAGA hat.
But we'll get blamed for it as usual,
DESPITE TWO OF OUR KIND WHO STOPPED HIM.
GUN-FREE ZONE. AND NOT FOR THE FIRST TIME. WHOSE FAULT IS THAT?
Looks like it's not okay to be white in Baltimore and which party, with their race-baiting and welfare handouts stolen from the productive class, has been running that city for how many decades?
Government "health" "care" has never been about either of those things.
While, as if on cue, on the other end of the equation, Immigrants Contributing to Society.
The media lies. All the time, about everything. (Sharyl Attkisson, by the way, is the only "mainstream" journalist to take any significant notice of Project Gunwalker, or give any credit at all to Codrea and Vanderboegh.)
Texas Attorney General recommends citizens carry weapons for self-defense. Which is not what we've come to expect from that kind. Well, he has to change his own state's laws to allow the thing he's recommending, doesn't he? Texas state law prohibits legal self-defense in churches and Ken Paxton is the highest law enforcement officer in Texas.
Thank the gods Hillary didn't win. I, and most of the people reading this, would be in a konzentrationslager by now.
Just a thought:
"...[I]f you don't want to propagate more mass murders...." Well, there's the problem.
GENOCIDE IS NOT HYPERBOLE.
"...[P]rogressives... screeched that there are too many dangerous people with guns, and at the same time accused anyone who wants to carry a gun for self protection of being a paranoid loon." Which I observed just a few days ago.
Republican NRA member gets drunk, shoots at random people on highwayOH WAIT IT'S IMMIGRANTS CONTRIBUTING TO SOCIETY AGAIN.
Looks like it's not okay to be white in South Africa.
To which dot connect, a couple days ago I linked a hate crime which I reckoned was fake and I was right, again.
It bears repeating that a good guy wth a gun really did stop a bad guy with a gun. And not for the first time. Now think about all the anti-self-defense perverts who propose, promote, vote for, or enforce any "law" prohibiting what these American heroes did.
"Gun owners turned out in a big way for Trump. Why should we take his appointing a gun-grabber to an important post over military health care without letting him know that’s wrong — and why?"
Oh look yet another fake hate crime. Because there aren't enough real ones.
And there were no mass shootings. We're not the ones who changed.
They are all so f***ing ignorant....
Tell me again how "real communism has never been tried".
Michael G. asks, "Remember when it was homophobic to think that you could teach a child to become gay? And to suggest that gay men and women wanted to do just that?"
Which segues to, what if "Pizzagate" is not a paranoid conspiracy theory?
Which segues to Immigrants
I linked the video when it came out, but the Ghost Gunner 2, to finish 80% 1911 (and Glock...) frames, bears repeating.
Important SCOTUS action from Florida.

Massive Vote Fraud From the Grave!
Oh look, yet another "disappearance" linked to the Clinton crime family.
RINO backstabbing, Chapter MMMMMCCLVII.
Astute Observation o' the Day.
An increment in Michigan, which has also had some Constitutional Carry action recently.
That feeling when the probably-leftist athiest wife-and-child-beating puppy-torturing monster with an eee-vill AR15 is stopped by a conservative Christian NRA member with an AR15. As further proof of the concerted and deliberate effort to misinform everyone about everything.
Likewise, Fake Hate Crime-fatigue.
But they really believe.
And they really do want to murder us all. Which I have observed within walking distance of my hovel.
Quislings in country music now.
"Global" "Warming" MY ASS, Chapter MMMMMCCLVIII. Surprised NA$A let that one slip through to the public....
Speaking of a tax-eating bureaucracy more concerned with lesbian interns and Muslim outreach than with the words in its very own name, they need to get the hell out of the way of getting us off this rock before it kills us all.
Enemy advances in Virginia-of-all-places, but VCDL isn't giving up. They've had considerable successes before, with national implications. (Also, perspective.)
To which dot connect massive vote fraud and TRUMP GODSDAMMIT WTF
Aaaaand the place where Sweden used to be is indistinguishable from any other barbaric Islamic cesspit.
Years ago I wrote, "The last of the productive class was effectively enslaved to prop up the non-workers, whose 'votes' kept the regime in power." And I was right, again.
It's Veterans Day.
Veterans are the only government employees
who have earned my tax dollars.
Tell me again how there's no conspiracy to take my guns.
Michael Z. Williamson offers a further example.
Second Front action in Idaho. I demand jail time or a noose for any hypocritical thief-with-a-badge who ever "confiscated" an "illegal" knife, and for any prosecutor-persecutor or unstable-freak-in-black-robes who upheld such bigotry.
I'm suddenly reminded of another anniversary.
MidWestReader sends range report:
"I went to one local indoor range and tried the HK VP40 they had for rent, with 50 rounds of Winchester white-box 180gr FMJ.
"I previously found the recoil of a VP9 to be surprisingly snappy for a 9mm. The VP40 might possibly have a slightly lower bore axis. It was not difficult to shoot at all. The trigger is Glock-ish, with maybe a little less takeup, but a longer reset, and a good tactile reset that you can feel easily while wearing gloves. At seven yards it shoots about 3" low and 2" left for me. After warming up and doing a little rapid fire--as much as you can with 50 rounds and 13 round mags--I made ten head shots, fast. I was pleased with the resulting ten round group, except for its location.
"The VP40, like the VP9, has a trigger that's usable, though not by any means great, with a lot of takeup and a somewhat mushy release. Recoil is not at all objectionable, though standard-pressure 180s in .40 generally have less snap to them than 165s or 155s moving fast, possibly because the 180s are so long and take up so much internal volume inside the case that there is less space left for the powder charge. The .40, like the 9mm, is not a terribly roomy case, of course. I can live with the trigger, and the finger grooves on the frame aren't nearly as objectionable as those on a Glock 19 or 23. I loathe the pivoting magazine release, though, and would have had a better opinion of the design with a conventional button type release. Also, in a full-size service pistol, magazines holding only thirteen rounds of .40 are a bit of anachronism these days. The magazines themselves are a bit easier to load than Glock or M&P .40 mags, but have sharp edges and corners at the top. I am told H&K's engineers decided thirteen rounds of .40 was probably enough, just as fifteen are in the VP9, and the magazines themselves have what is by current standards a rather tall magazine follower, in order to reduce wear and tear on the spring and preserve the magazine reliability in the long term. It is an all-steel magazine, unlike the polymer magazine tube the .40 caliber USP uses, but the capacity is the same."
"Speaking of .40 and magazine capacity, there was a sobering incident of which I've read a bit at ARFCOM. I am not entirely certain of the location of the incident, but it was a firefight between a state trooper and a rather loathsome individual armed with some kind of cheap potmetal .380. The state trooper may have thought it was a routine traffic stop, but the driver, it developed, was wanted on felony murder charges and not willing to go quietly, so after exiting the vehicle, he produced his pistol and began shooting. It is noteworthy, in my opinion, that the state trooper, armed with a Glock 22, expended thirty-one rounds in a great hurry at conversational distance, hitting the other fellow twenty-two or twenty-three times. Some of these hits were peripheral, but sixteen or seventeen were solid torso hits, within the body cavity. Numerous expanded bullets were recovered, some in the recipient's clothing on his opposite side. Not all bullets were recovered but all exit wounds were described as ragged in character in a manner consistent with proper expansion. The state trooper's marksmanship was not wholly lacking, and one would expect sixteen or seventeen modern .40 caliber hollowpoint bullets scattered across center mass to solve any problem one might hope to solve with a pistol. Penetration to vitals was adequate in all cases--but the fellow with the potmetal .380 had no unusual drugs in his system, nor does he appear to have had any large amount of alcohol. Rather, he appears to have been just that determined to stay in the fight, just that determined not to go back to prison. He had six rounds in the .380 and no spare mags or ammo, and only hit the state trooper once--in the neck, not covered by his body armor, causing him to bleed to death several minutes later, leaving behind a wife and young children at home. Additional cops arrived and had to catch and subdue the bad guy, who had so much metal in his body by this point that you'd think the sheer weight of all that lead should have slowed him down at least a little, and handcuff him before they could get him into the ambulance; apparently he was still fighting when they got him into the operating room. Supposedly he died a few days later from complications after surgery.
"This is sobering. The International Wound Ballistics Association currently recommends the .40 caliber as the minimum suitable for general duty or carry issue, and recommends a magazine capacity of at least fifteen. I suppose Jeff Cooper would say this was a situation calling for application of the Mozambique Drill as a tactic. Still and all, he soaked up sixteen or seventeen solid torso hits with a modern service caliber handgun, using hollowpoint bullets that appear to have performed to spec and as designed, and he wasn't even drunk or on drugs. It's rather chilling, and recalls the April 1986 'Miami Massacre,' and the manner in which Mr. Platt, the bank robber and possible serial killer, absorbed multiple .38 and 9mm hollowpoints without so much as flinching and kept on fighting right up until he bled out and died. It brings to mind zombie stories.
"It brings to mind an incident in Florida this spring, censored video of which was briefly on Youtube, of an intoxicated and possibly mentally ill individual basically committing suicide-by-cop, taunting the police with a rifle until one of them gave him a neat pattern of #00 buckshot right across his A-zone. I was struck by the way, despite the tight pattern made by 12 gauge buckshot at conversational distances, despite the fact that given its placement he shouldn't have had a heart any more (though I have seen no autopsy results), and that I would have expected at least a pellet or two to strike his spinal column as well, he did NOT collapse. I wonder whether 27 pellet #4 buck would have had a greater chance of striking his spine or otherwise doing something more immediately incapacitating, but I never thought there could be that much of a difference. Instead of falling down as one might expect, he dropped the rifle and staggered back and forth shouting obscenities. He was still fighting when they put the cuffs on him, though he died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Had he wanted to fight he could have, and he continued to talk and react and move purposefully for some minutes. That's a little terrifying.
"I suppose what we can conclude from this is that 'stopping power' is a myth, and we should plan on needing to keep on shooting, and possibly on needing to be able to make head shots."
"I also had an opportunity to try a fullsize S&W M&P .45. This one had the worst trigger I've ever felt on a striker-fired pistol, which is saying something--lots of takeup, a heavy mushy break, and a mushy reset that I couldn't quite feel or time well, so that I ended up having to let the trigger go all the way forward between shots in order to get the next shot off reliably. Also, the magazines are advertised as holding ten rounds but without a magazine loading tool I could only get nine in--the magazine springs are VERY stout. Research afterwards reveals that this is common with M&P .45 mags before they break in, and it can take some hundreds of rounds before you can get all ten in. I didn't get a picture because I was disappointed with how I shot it. Recoil is not bad at all, and it's not fatiguing to shoot, but I was flinching pretty badly because I tried a new range in [redacted], one with stamped sheetmetal 'diamond plate' dividers between the lanes, which were in a long narrow room with concrete walls and floor. I was set up and trying to shoot beside a fellow shooting an M4 carbine. Every time he touched that thing off all the lane dividers rang like gongs--and so did my skull." [I'm reminded of an unpleasant experience I had at an indoor range many years ago, where someone a few lanes over was using an Automag III in .30 Carbine. It felt like my eyeballs were clicking together.] "The M&P .45 was reliable, for fifty rounds of factory ball ammo, except for the mags holding one round less than they were supposed to. It was still one or two rounds more than most fullsize 1911s. I suppose an aftermarket trigger might help, and if I found a used one and the price was right, I would at least consider it, 9+1 capacity or no."
Long crappy day at work.
F*** the world I wanna get off.
The next time someone tells you how awesome that latest movie was....
Immigrants Contributing to Society. It's not "Islamophobic" if it's true.
With ever more of the same.
Well here's the most racist thing I've heard today.
I no longer regret never having served in the military.
I'm not religious, but I have said, a person who cannot defend himself is an object of pity, while one who will not is an object of revulsion.
F*** NA$A, Chapter MMMMMCCLXI. Get out of the way.
Yes, Fudd, that means grandpa's Woodsmaster too.
We're not the ones hurting people. We're the ones getting blamed and punished for crimes committed by the same people who accuse us.
And yes, they really would, in so many of their own words, rather see more innocent people murdered than allow any of us to defend ourselves. -I know, it'll be waved away as Yet Another Biden Gaffe, he meant the probably-leftist athiest who probably voted for him, but no, some things you just can't spin.
In further support of which,
last month I made this meme:

To automatically believe sexual assault allegations against leftists and disbelieve them against conservatives is not hypocrisy. It's statistics.
It's also toxic feminism.
Speaking of damned inconvenient truths.

But remember, peasant, keeping immigrants out is "racist".
Long past time we had a warrior in charge of the War Department.
"Republicans are the party of white supremacy"OH. WAIT.
"Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
The other day was a report that the US Army was relaxing barriers to enlistment for people suffering mental illness and it looks like that was a lie. And Old Media wonders why we don't trust them anymore.
RINO backstabbing, Chapter MMMMMCCLXIII.
Meanwhile on campus, Michael G. sends, "UVA to reduce sanctions on lying, cheating, stealing. While the sanctions against actions that can be objectively proven or disproven will be reduced they will still come down like a ton of bricks on purely subjective offenses. Starting wages at the law firm of Dewey, Cheatam and Howe must be going through the floor since they will have such a huge pool to choose from."
And that's what you get for your soul-crushing debt.
Real communism has never been tried....
BUT THEY CALL US "RACIST".
Increments in Michigan. It's still wrong to demand extortionate permission to exercise a natural human right, but that right can be taken back a piece at a time, the same way it was stolen.

Note that, despite telling everyone else not to have kids, he has a child of his own. I feel fairly certain that advocating for the self-imposed extinction of humanity should probably be classed as a mental disorder. [6:35:09 PM] Jeffersonian: "POUR IT TO 'EM!"
[6:36:27 PM] Jeffersonian: the anime industry needs to make that particular piece of alternate history
[6:37:31 PM] SMLE Fan: indeed, if for no other reason than I want to hear "Pilgrim" in nihongo
[6:37:40 PM] Jeffersonian: where would the departure point be though? Samar? Yamato successfully repels the Leyte landings? Okinawa? Yamato was never detected on her last mission?
[6:38:17 PM] Jeffersonian: her captain sees an opportunity, doesn't beach the ship, seizes Allied fuel stores, continues the fight
[6:39:03 PM] SMLE Fan: I'd start with Taffy 3 failing, but then again, I know far more of this stuff than your usual Merkin
[6:42:48 PM] SMLE Fan: and furthering the dive into the weeds, who would you detach from the ship to man the pumps and provide for perimeter security? How many AA guns would you take offline to provide the men for that? You'd need to raid the engineering spaces, but how long can you operate a ship like that when your guys below decks are doing 12 hour shifts to make up the shortfall?
[6:43:50 PM] Jeffersonian: suspense! tension! the ticking clock! the ever-mounting risk of discovery!
[6:45:10 PM] SMLE Fan: plus, who do you p!ss off? Whichever way the script resolves, you're gonna have some ticked-off movie goers
[6:45:34 PM] Jeffersonian: DAMMIT WE SHOULD BE GETTING PAID FOR THIS

I wish to acquire this very particular gas block:
It is used by Windham Weaponry on some of their barrels, uppers, and complete rifles. They have told me it is not available separately.
This gas block has:
a Picatinny rail at the SAME HEIGHT as the upper receiver rail;
and a bayonet lug;
and a conventional sling swivel;
and it is pinned to the barrel instead of using set- or clamp-screws.
If you have one, for example taken off a Windham rifle which has been reconfigured, I WILL PAY MONEY FOR IT. Please contact me by clicking "comment" below.
